I spent the last month in the Brian Wiegmann lab at the North Carolina State University preparing the anchored hybrid enrichment library for over 100 species of Miltogramminae (Diptera, Sarcophagidae) in order to produce hundreds of loci for phylogenetic inference. Anchored hybrid enrichment is a form of next-generation sequencing that uses oligonucleotide probes to target conserved regions of the genome flanked by less conserved regions in order to acquire data useful for phylogenetic inference from a broad range of taxa. The main aim of this study is to propose new taxonomic system of the subfamily based on a robust phylogenetic hypothesis. My stay was supported by National Science Center grant (UMO-2015/17/B/NZ8/02453).
